Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), Sept 28: Healthcare services across Odisha have been significantly impacted as nursing officers have initiated a strike, presenting a 10-point charter of demands. Patients and their families are bearing the brunt of the ongoing agitation by the Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association (ONEA).
In a statement, the protesting nursing officers expressed their frustration, saying, “What can we do when our demands are not being fulfilled by the government? We urge the authorities to intervene swiftly to resolve the issue and end the strike as soon as possible.”
In response, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has convened a meeting with the association to address their concerns, hoping that constructive discussions will mitigate further disruption in healthcare services.
The nursing officers are engaged in a two-day strike, advocating for the regularization of contractual nursing staff, pay parity, promotions, and other benefits comparable to those of other state government employees.
