Odisha Minister Pushes Transparency in Construction Material Pricing

Bhubaneswar, March 6: Odisha’s Works, Law, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan chaired a high‑level review meeting on Friday to streamline pricing and quality standards for construction materials used in state infrastructure projects.

The Minister emphasised the need for transparency and efficiency in determining material costs, urging officials to expedite the process to avoid delays in project execution.

He also underscored strict adherence to quality benchmarks to ensure durability and sustainability in public works.

The meeting reviewed the pricing of sand, stone, bricks, electrical supplies, prefabricated components, and transportation costs.

Comparative methods adopted by the central government and other states were discussed to establish fair and accurate rates for Odisha.

Senior officials, including EIC‑cum‑Principal Secretary Lakshmikant Padhi, EIC (Design) Sameer Hota, EIC (Civil) Satyabrata Behera, EIC (Roads) Dhyan Chand Nayak, Chief Engineer Priyabrata Samantaray, Engineer Shivabrata Taria, and Financial Advisor Ratikant Mohapatra, attended the session.
