Odisha Minister Orders Swift Action on Paddy Procurement Complaints

Bhubaneswar: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra inspected the Odisha State Food Corporation’s Control and Grievance Redressal Centre to review the ongoing Kharif paddy procurement process.

During the visit, Patra emphasised zero tolerance for irregularities and directed officials to ensure the timely resolution of farmer complaints.

A dedicated control room and toll‑free helpline (1967) have been set up to address grievances.

To strengthen transparency, the department has introduced CCTV monitoring at mandis, vehicle tracking systems, and live footage arrangements to monitor paddy movement from procurement centres to mills.

The Minister interacted with farmers, mandi officials, and nodal officers, assuring them of prompt redressal of issues.

Odisha State Food Corporation MD K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy briefed him on the grievance mechanisms in place.

Senior officials from the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department were also present during the inspection.

Patra reiterated the government’s commitment to fair procurement practices and urged officials to maintain efficiency and accountability throughout the season.
