Odisha Man Rescued After 14 Years in Traffickers’ Grip
Rourkela, Odisha: After nearly 15 years of anguish, a mother in Rourkela was reunited with her son, Purushottam Gouda, who was rescued from Jammu, where he had been held captive by traffickers.
Gouda revealed that he was abducted and forced into labour in Punjab before being moved to Samba, Jammu, where threats and exploitation kept him from contacting his family.
His eventual phone call home set off a chain of intervention, with villagers and local MLA Durga Tanti coordinating with authorities to secure his release.
The emotional reunion has brought closure to his grieving family and highlighted the urgent need to combat human trafficking networks that continue to exploit vulnerable individuals across India.
