Odisha Leaders Honour Freedom Fighter Rama Devi on Birth Anniversary

Odisha’s political and social leaders gathered at the Legislative Assembly premises on Wednesday to pay tribute to freedom fighter and social reformer Rama Devi (Ramadevi Choudhury) on her birth anniversary.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, BJD leader Prasanna Acharya, and other dignitaries offered floral tributes at the statue of Maa Ramadevi.

Rama Devi, born on December 3, 1899, played a distinguished role in India’s independence movement. She mobilised women across Odisha to actively participate in the freedom struggle, becoming a symbol of resilience, social justice, and empowerment.

Her lifelong commitment to advancing equality and compassion continues to inspire generations.

Leaders at the ceremony emphasised the importance of carrying forward her ideals of women’s liberation and social justice. They reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that her vision remains alive and relevant for future generations.
