Odisha Leaders Call for Collective Water Conservation on World Water Day
On the occasion of World Water Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo urged citizens to unite in conserving water resources.
CM Majhi emphasised that “water is life” and highlighted initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, including the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide clean piped drinking water to every household.
He also pointed to irrigation projects and the empowerment of Pani Panchayats as key steps toward strengthening agriculture and ensuring sustainable water use.
Dy CM Singh Deo echoed the call, linking this year’s theme, “Water for Peace,” to the importance of safeguarding rivers and groundwater.
He stressed that water is the foundation of health, prosperity, and harmony, urging collective responsibility so that future generations inherit a thriving Odisha.
Both leaders framed water conservation as a moral and social duty, essential for peace, progress, and prosperity.
