Odisha lawyer suspended for use of derogatory language against judiciary
Bhubaneswar, Sep 15 (UNI) The Odisha State Bar Council has suspended a lawyer from legal practice for two years on the charge of posting derogatory and obscene language against the judiciary in social media platforms.
“The Odisha State Bar Council has suspended advocate Hemanta Kumar Nayak Under/Section 35 (3) (c) of the Advocates Act from practicing as an Advocate for a period of two years from the date of judgment.
He is further restrained from using obscene and derogatory languages and such unbecoming and unprofessional activities”, the Odisha State Bar Council stated in an official order today.
The lawyer was suspended after the Disciplinary Committee, Odisha State Bar Council found prima facie in the allegation leveled against him.
Nayak, a practicing lawyer in Bhadrak district, allegedly posted objectionable and baseless allegations against the judicial officer on a social media platform to tarnish the image of the judiciary. Such an act lowered the dignity of the legal profession, the Bar Council order further added.
