Odisha Law Minister Accelerates Notary Reforms with New Digital Portal and Mobile App
In a decisive move to modernise legal services, Odisha’s Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has announced the fast-tracking of notary appointments through a newly proposed digital infrastructure.
At a high-level meeting held at the Law Department’s conference hall, the minister unveiled plans for a dedicated web portal and mobile app aimed at streamlining the registration and monitoring of notaries and advocates across the state.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce bureaucratic delays, enhance transparency, and improve access to justice.
The portal will serve as a centralised database, allowing aspiring notaries to apply online and existing professionals to submit regular activity reports. The mobile app will further extend accessibility, enabling users to interact with legal services on the go.
“Notaries and advocates play a crucial role in easing the burden on our judicial system,” Harichandan emphasised, urging swift implementation of the tech-driven reforms.
Senior officials, including Principal Secretary Manas Ranjan Barik and ACS Shiba Prasad Mohapatra, contributed insights on data security and integration with existing platforms.
This digital leap is expected to simplify legal procedures and reinforce professional accountability, marking a significant milestone in Odisha’s justice delivery system.
