Odisha Launches Rs 2,067 Cr Semiconductor Facility to Boost Tech Manufacturing
Bhubaneswar, Nov 1 — In a landmark move for India’s eastern tech corridor, Chief Minister Majhi today laid the foundation stone for SiCSem Private Limited’s Compound Semiconductor Facility at Info Valley, Bhubaneswar.
The Rs 2,067 crore project, backed by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), marks a major leap in Odisha’s ambition to become a hub for advanced electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
The facility will produce critical components for electric vehicles, defence systems, railways, and renewable energy. With an annual capacity of 60,000 wafers and packaging capability of 96 million units, it is expected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Complementing this industrial push, the state will also establish a Rs 64 crore Research & Innovation Centre at IIT Bhubaneswar to advance Silicon Carbide technology. This initiative aims to foster academic collaboration and strengthen Odisha’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Odisha’s progressive policies, robust infrastructure, and focus on emerging technologies like AI and electronics continue to attract high-value investments.
With strong support from the Government of India and private industry, the state is positioning itself as a key player in India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
