Odisha Launches PMAY‑Urban BANDHU to Boost Affordable Housing
The Odisha government has unveiled PMAY‑Urban BANDHU, a new initiative under the 2026–27 Budget aimed at accelerating affordable housing delivery across towns and cities.
The scheme prioritises Economically Weaker Section (EWS) families and landless urban households, ensuring inclusive growth in the state’s urban centres.
To support this, 50 acres of government land will be earmarked annually under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) vertical of PMAY‑U 2.0.
A budgetary allocation of Rs 120 crore has been made for the program in 2026–27.
The initiative seeks to streamline project execution across urban local bodies, strengthen institutional coordination, and achieve the ambitious target of providing pucca houses to 90% of households by 2029.
Anchored in the vision of Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat, the scheme underscores housing as a foundation for better health, education, livelihoods, and sustainable urban development.
