Odisha launches monthly review drive to Fast-Track Urban Development

Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 (UNI) In a strategic move to accelerate the state’s urban development agenda, Odisha will now observe the first Tuesday of every month as a dedicated review day, Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced today.

The institutionalised framework, titled the “First Tuesday Review Drive,” is aimed at ensuring real-time monitoring, swift implementation, and enhanced accountability across all flagship schemes and initiatives under the department, the Minister stated while chairing a high-level review meeting.

During the session, Dr. Mahapatra conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana, focusing on key components such as sanitation, urban infrastructure, implementation of the GARIMA Scheme—which safeguards the dignity and welfare of sanitation workers—and budget utilisation.

Emphasising the need for timely results, the Minister directed officials to expedite ongoing projects and streamline execution processes.

A major highlight of the review was the Drink-from-Tap Mission, with the Minister urging immediate action to ensure round-the-clock access to clean and safe drinking water across all 115 urban areas.
The review also covered the development of public amenities, including parks, libraries, and Kalyan Mandaps.

Dr. Mahapatra underscored the importance of inclusive infrastructure and issued special instructions to ensure that every park is equipped with accessible facilities for persons with disabilities.
