Odisha IAS Reshuffle 2026: Deoranjan Kumar Singh Appointed Development Commissioner

Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: The Government of Odisha has announced a significant reshuffle of senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers as part of its New Year administrative adjustments.

The notification, issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department, outlines key appointments and additional charges across departments and districts.

Deoranjan Kumar Singh (RR-1993), Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Revenue & Disaster Management Department, has been appointed as Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary to the Government, Planning & Convergence Department.

Singh will also continue to hold multiple additional charges, including Member, Board of Revenue; Special Relief Commissioner; Managing Director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority; and Chairman of Odisha Forest Development Corporation.

Satyabrata Sahu (RR-1991), previously overseeing Home and Forest, Environment & Climate Change Departments, has been appointed as Member, Board of Revenue, Odisha, Cuttack.

Hemant Sharma (RR-1995) will continue as Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries and MSME Departments, while retaining charge as Principal Secretary of the Energy Department.

Other notable continuations include Shubha Sarma (RR-1999) as Principal Secretary of Women & Child Development Department with additional charge of Water Resources, and Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma (RR-1999) as Principal Secretary of Excise Department, continuing as CMD of OPTCL and Chairman of OSBC.

At the district level, Madhumita Rath (SCS-2015) has been appointed Collector & District Magistrate of Nayagarh, while Akshay Sunil Agrawal (RR-2019) has been transferred to Gajapati as Collector & District Magistrate.

The reshuffle reflects the government’s strategy to strengthen administrative efficiency and streamline responsibilities across critical departments as Odisha enters 2026.
