Odisha IAS Officers Take Charge of Key Central Roles in Delhi
In a strategic move underscoring Odisha’s growing footprint in national governance, two IAS officers from the state cadre have been appointed to pivotal positions under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Samarth Verma, a 2011-batch officer known for his administrative precision, has been designated Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways.
His five-year tenure will focus on enhancing India’s maritime infrastructure—a sector vital to economic expansion and global trade competitiveness.
Meanwhile, Swadha Dev Singh, from the 2014 batch, has been appointed Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration at the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI), New Delhi.
Her role, effective until December 31, 2025, places her at the helm of citizen data management and census execution amid India’s digital transformation.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has mandated immediate joining, with a three-week deadline. Non-compliance could result in debarment from future central postings.
These appointments reflect the Centre’s strategy to harness state-level expertise for federal initiatives, reinforcing inter-governmental synergy.
Odisha’s cadre continues to shine on the national stage, with Verma and Singh poised to influence policy and implementation at the highest levels.
