Odisha Hosts Landmark Civil Aviation Conference to Propel Eastern India’s Air Connectivity
Bhubaneswar, August 25(OT Webdesk)— The Eastern Region Civil Aviation Ministers’ Conference convened today at the MAYFAIR Convention in Bhubaneswar, marking a pivotal moment in India’s aviation landscape.
Spearheaded by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the Government of Odisha, the event brought together key stakeholders from six states and the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu inaugurated the conference, with Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi in attendance. The gathering focused on strengthening regional air connectivity, expanding infrastructure, and fostering innovation across Eastern India.
Discussions spanned critical areas including airport and heliport development, the UDAN scheme, drone ecosystem expansion, Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), and aviation skill-building.
Dedicated sessions allowed state delegations from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands to address region-specific priorities.
Industry leaders and officials from MoCA, AAI, DGCA, BCAS, and AERA participated in parallel sessions exploring investment opportunities, public-private partnerships, and policy frameworks.
The plenary session featured remarks from MoCA Secretary Shri Samir Kumar Sinha and special addresses by senior state officials.
In his keynote, Shri Kinjarapu outlined the Government of India’s roadmap for modernising aviation infrastructure and positioning Odisha as a strategic hub for Eastern India.
The conference underscored Odisha’s growing role in shaping the future of civil aviation and reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive, innovation-driven growth.
