Odisha Home Department Issues Urgent Directive on Vacant Posts Ahead of Review Meeting
The Odisha Home Department has issued an urgent directive to senior officials, asking them to immediately furnish details of vacant posts across their organisations.
Despite repeated reminders, several departments have failed to provide the required information, prompting the latest communication marked “Extremely Urgent.”
Special Secretary Subash Chandra Das addressed the letter to top authorities, including the Director General of Police, DG Fire Services, DG Prisons, CMD of Odisha State Police Welfare & Housing Corporation, Registrar of the Odisha High Court, Director of Odisha Judicial Academy, Director of Public Prosecution, and Manager of the State Guest House.
The directive follows earlier instructions from the Chief Secretary, who had asked departments to identify vacancies and send requisitions to recruiting agencies without delay.
Similar reminders were issued on September 18, 2025, and December 3, 2025, but compliance remains pending.
Officials have now been asked to submit vacancy data in the prescribed format by today so that updates can be made to the Recruitment Web Portal.
The matter will be reviewed in a meeting of all Secretaries scheduled for January 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
This move underscores the government’s push to streamline recruitment and address staffing gaps across critical departments.
