Odisha is currently gripped by an intense heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 40°C in 11 cities. Jharsuguda leads the charts as the hottest city, recording a searing 43.5°C. Other cities like Balangir, Titilagarh, Sambalpur, and Sonepur are also struggling with temperatures above 41°C.
The Regional Meteorological Center in Bhubaneswar has issued a heatwave alert, predicting further increases in temperature by 4-6°C in the next four days. Although recent rainfall provided brief relief, scorching heat has returned, intensifying discomfort among residents.
Citizens are urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and take necessary precautions during this extreme weather.
