Joined by district collectors, commissioners, and Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs), the minister assessed the state’s preparedness against malaria and dengue.

Key strategies discussed included the distribution of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs), Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS), and expanded screening in high-risk zones such as residential schools and migrant hubs.

With 1.57 crore LLINs set to arrive from the central government, Dr. Mahaling urged officials to ensure grassroots-level deployment.

To boost public engagement, the minister called for mobilising self-help groups, youth clubs, and students to spread awareness.

He also emphasised maintaining adequate platelet reserves and enhancing the operational efficiency of disease control teams.

Officials from over 20 districts participated, signalling a unified front in Odisha’s fight against vector-borne illnesses.

The state’s intensified measures reflect its commitment to safeguarding public health during the vulnerable monsoon season.
