Odisha Guv urges support for ‘TB-Mukt Odisha’, distributes nutritional aid to patients

Bhubaneswar, Sep 20 (UNI) Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati today urged universities, corporates and philanthropists to come forward as Ni-Kshay Mitras and contribute to the collective mission of achieving a ‘TB-Mukt Odisha’.
As part of the initiative to strengthen the state’s fight against Tuberculosis and support patients during treatment, the Governor distributed nutritional food baskets to 100 TB patients of Khordha district at a special programme held at the Mini Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan.

On the occasion, Dr Kambhampati symbolically handed over the baskets to Khordha District Collector Amrit Ruturaj for distribution among patients.
The initiative comes under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA), under which the Governor has adopted TB patients of the district as Ni-Kshay Mitra to provide sustained nutritional support throughout the treatment period.

The programme also included a detailed presentation by the Director of Health and Family Welfare, outlining the current status of TB in Odisha and the state government’s multi-pronged efforts to eliminate the disease.
In a significant announcement, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment by adopting an additional 50 drug-resistant TB patients, thereby extending his support to some of the most vulnerable sections of society.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Aswathy S, acknowledged the Governor’s compassionate leadership and advocacy, noting that the provision of nutritional food baskets would not only improve patient health but also inspire collective responsibility in society to fight TB with renewed determination.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Governor Roopa Roshan Sahoo, Mission Director NHM and other dignitaries.
