Odisha Grants MBPY & NSAP Pensions to Elderly Subhadra Yojana Beneficiaries

In a significant welfare move, the Odisha government has announced that individuals aged 60 and above who were previously covered under the Subhadra Yojana will now be eligible for pension benefits.

These beneficiaries can apply under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).

The decision follows revelations that nearly 93,000 senior citizens had been excluded from the Subhadra scheme.

In an official communication, the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) clarified that former Subhadra beneficiaries must submit fresh applications under the old age pension category.

Approval will be contingent upon meeting eligibility criteria and the availability of vacancies.

Additional Secretary Deepak Routrai emphasised that no special exemptions will be granted to these applicants. District Social Security Officers have been directed to assist in the application process to ensure seamless inclusion.

This move reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of senior citizens and ensuring that no eligible individual is left behind.
