Odisha govt to reveal detailed inventory of Puri Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: The Odisha government will soon make public a comprehensive list of all ornaments and valuables stored in the Ratna Bhandar (treasury) of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. This move will allow devotees worldwide to gain insights into the priceless treasures housed within the temple.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, in a written reply in the state Assembly on Saturday, stated that the detailed inventory will be disclosed once the counting process is completed. He further informed that the last documented inventory check of the Ratna Bhandar was conducted in 1978, and a meticulous approach will be applied to the ongoing documentation process.
The counting and verification of valuables will commence after the completion of the ongoing renovation and repair work of the Ratna Bhandar. “We are committed to completing the restoration process and ensuring a transparent disclosure of the inventory details to the public,” the Minister assured.
This announcement comes amid heightened curiosity among devotees and historians regarding the contents of the treasury. The Ratna Bhandar was opened on July 14, 2024, after a gap of over 45 years, marking a significant step towards transparency and preservation of the temple’s invaluable heritage.
