Odisha Govt Targets Corruption with Statewide Crackdown
(OT Webdesk)In a bold move to reinforce transparency and accountability, the Odisha government is preparing a comprehensive list of corrupt officials across all ranks—from clerks and peons to chief engineers.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced that exemplary punishment will be meted out to those found guilty, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to corruption.
Harichandan emphasised that the crackdown is not symbolic but systemic, aiming to root out malpractice at every level. “Even top-level officers will not be spared,” he stated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to clean governance.
The Minister also highlighted the state’s aggressive stance against organised crime, ensuring swift arrests within 24 to 48 hours. He noted a decline in the overall crime rate compared to the previous year.
Additionally, Harichandan raised alarm over the growing threat of psychotropic chemical drugs, calling it a “serious menace.” The government has initiated targeted measures to counter the challenge.
This multi-pronged campaign reflects Odisha’s renewed push for integrity in public service and a safer, more accountable society.
