Odisha Govt Secures Millers’ Support for Smooth Kharif Paddy Procurement
The Odisha government has rolled out extensive measures to ensure seamless procurement of paddy from registered farmers during the ongoing kharif season.
In a high-level review meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra emphasised the importance of timely payments and safeguarding farmer interests.
The meeting brought together senior officials, including Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation Sudarshan Chakravarty, and leaders of the Odisha Rice Millers’ Association.
The millers assured full cooperation in milling and delivery of custom-milled rice (CMR), pledging to support the government’s drive for hassle-free operations.
Discussions focused on strengthening procurement mechanisms, protecting farmers’ welfare, and ensuring smooth delivery of rice to the state’s supply chain.
With the millers’ commitment and government oversight, Odisha aims to make this kharif procurement season efficient, transparent, and farmer-friendly.
