Odisha Govt Releases ₹10 Crore Flood Relief for Four Districts

The Odisha government has sanctioned ₹10 crore in immediate relief assistance to families affected by floods in Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Jharsuguda districts.

Nabarangpur, which faced severe rainfall and waterlogging after the Indravati reservoir gates were opened, received the largest share of ₹5 crore.

Ganjam and Gajapati were allotted ₹2 crore each following flash floods, house collapses, and mass evacuations. Jharsuguda was granted ₹1 crore.

The funds will be utilised for house building assistance, crop loss compensation, and relief camp expenditure.

District collectors have been directed to ensure quick disbursal to eligible families, adhere to prescribed norms, and submit utilisation reports promptly.

Tentulikhunti in Nabarangpur recorded nearly 400 mm of rainfall in a single day, while villages in Ganjam and Gajapati were cut off, forcing evacuations of vulnerable residents, including pregnant women.

Relief camps have been operational for several days, with over one lakh people evacuated across the state.

Officials clarified that this package is an immediate relief measure, while larger assessments of damage are still underway.
