Odisha Govt Orders Free Uniform Distribution for Shishu Vatika Students by February 15
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has directed all districts to complete the distribution of free uniforms for Shishu Vatika (pre-primary) students by February 15, 2026.
In a circular issued by the Additional Director (General), Smt. Sangita Behera, District Education Officers (DEOs) have been instructed to ensure timely distribution and strict adherence to prescribed standards.
Each student will receive uniforms worth Rs 1,000, comprising two sets of clothes, shoes, T-shirts, track pants, and caps.
The directive emphasises that the uniforms must match the specifications already in place for Class I students, including colour, quality, logo, and design.
Distribution will be carried out through Self Help Groups (SHGs), Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs), and School Management Committees (SMCs), as approved by the District Level Committee chaired by the Collector.
Importantly, no fresh tender or Expression of Interest will be floated for this academic year, streamlining the process. DEOs have been asked to personally monitor the distribution to ensure compliance.
The initiative aims to promote equality among young learners, strengthen early childhood education, and reinforce the government’s commitment to student welfare and inclusive education.
