Odisha Govt Launches e-KYC Drive to Eliminate Fake Farmer Registrations

(OT Webdesk)In a decisive move to ensure transparency in paddy procurement, the Odisha government has mandated e-KYC verification for all farmers registering for the Kharif season.

The initiative, announced by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, aims to weed out impersonators and prevent misuse of government schemes.

The e-KYC process will involve biometric fingerprint and iris scans, enabling officials to accurately identify genuine cultivators.

This comes amid growing concerns over duplicate registrations and fraudulent claims during procurement.

“Only verified farmers will be allowed to sell their produce.

This will ensure benefits reach the rightful stakeholders,” said Patra. District-wise implementation is already underway, with preparations in full swing.

The move is expected to tighten controls, enhance accountability, and safeguard public resources earmarked for agricultural support.
