Odisha Govt Extends Tenure of Consumer Commission Members to Prevent Stalemate

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the tenure of three members of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission to ensure continuity in its functioning.

Dr Pramode Kumar Prusty, Miss Sudhiralaxmi Pattnaik, and Sri Hemanta Kumar Mohanty will continue in their roles until the ongoing recruitment process is finalised.

The decision comes at a crucial time, as Acting President Dillip Kumar Mohapatra’s term is set to end on March 15.

With over 4,000 cases pending before the Commission, the extension is aimed at preventing a stalemate and ensuring that consumer grievances continue to be addressed without disruption.

Officials emphasised that the move was necessary to maintain operational stability and uphold the Commission’s responsibility of delivering timely justice to consumers across the state.
