Odisha Govt Declares Local Holiday on November 3 in Five Regions for Kartika Observance
In a move that honours regional religious traditions, the Odisha government has declared a local holiday on November 3, 2025, across four southern districts—Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri—as well as the Baliguda sub-division in Kandhamal.
The announcement was made by the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) to facilitate public participation in the final Monday of Kartika month, a spiritually significant day marked by mass prayers, fasting, and temple visits.
The holiday applies to all government offices and institutions within the notified regions. Offices in other districts will operate as usual.
The Kartika month holds deep cultural and religious importance across Odisha, especially in the southern belt. The final Monday is celebrated with community gatherings and rituals that reflect the state’s rich spiritual heritage.
Baliguda’s inclusion underscores the government’s sensitivity to local customs and ensures smooth observance without administrative disruption.
This decision reinforces the administration’s commitment to respecting regional traditions while maintaining governance efficiency.
