Odisha Govt Creates Four New Tahasils in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack & Sambalpur
The Odisha Government has announced the creation of four new Tahasils to strengthen administrative efficiency and improve public service delivery in urban areas.
According to an official communication from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, two new Tahasils will be carved out of the existing Bhubaneswar Tahasil, while one each will be formed by bifurcating Cuttack and Sambalpur Tahasils.
This restructuring comes in response to challenges faced by large Tahasils, including vast geographical coverage, rising population density, and growing demand for diverse public services.
Collectors of Khurda, Cuttack, and Sambalpur have been directed to submit detailed proposals within seven days.
These proposals must outline the proposed locations, headquarters, names of R.I. Circles and villages to be tagged, digital sketch maps, staffing requirements, and financial implications.
The government has emphasised that the move is aimed at ensuring geographical contiguity, administrative convenience, and better service delivery to citizens.
The directive has been marked “Extremely Urgent,” underscoring the priority attached to the initiative.
