Odisha Govt Appoints Nine IAS Probationers as BDOs for Block-Level Training

In a strategic move to bolster grassroots governance, the Odisha Government has appointed nine IAS probationers from the 2014 Odisha cadre as Block Development Officers (BDOs) across various districts.

The appointments, effective from November 3 to November 29, 2025, are part of a four-week Block Level Training initiative under Section 15-A of the Odisha Panchayat Samiti Act, 1959.

During this period, the probationers will independently oversee administrative and financial functions as per Rule 13 of the Odisha Panchayat Samiti (Administration of Affairs) Rules, 1987. The existing BDOs in these blocks will be temporarily deputed to the district headquarters to assist in Zilla Parishad operations.

This hands-on exposure is designed to equip new officers with real-time governance experience while enhancing administrative efficiency at the block level.
