Odisha Governor Felicitates Champa Raspeda for Historic NEET Achievement

*Bhubaneswar, Sept 6:* Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati felicitated Champa Raspeda at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. Champa is the first girl from the Didyai community—a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG)—to qualify for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

A native of Amlibeda village in Malkangiri district, Champa made history by securing admission to an MBBS course in a government medical college. She was accompanied during her visit to Raj Bhavan by her brother, an official from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI), and her mentor, Utkala Keshari Das, who guided her throughout her preparation.

During their interaction, the Governor inquired about Champa’s journey, including the challenges she faced, her educational background, and her determination to pursue a career in medicine. As a token of encouragement, the Governor presented her with a mobile phone and a laptop bag, extending his best wishes for her academic journey ahead.

Dr. Kambhampati praised Champa’s achievement, stating that her success is a significant source of pride not only for the Didyai community but for the entire state of Odisha. He emphasised that her journey from a remote village to qualifying for NEET showcases extraordinary determination, perseverance, and a strong commitment to education. Her success, he noted, will serve as a powerful inspiration for countless children from tribal and rural backgrounds, motivating them to overcome obstacles and aspire to great heights in life.

The Governor assured Champa of all possible support in her future academic endeavours, highlighting that her journey will continue to inspire students across Odisha. He emphasised the transformative power of education as a means of empowerment and social progress.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Governor Roopa Roshan Sahu, along with other officials from Raj Bhavan, were also present at the occasion.
