Odisha Gets New Amrit Bharat Train Connecting Assam & Telangana
The Centre has approved a new Amrit Bharat train connecting Kamakhya in Assam with Charalapalli/Secunderabad in Telangana, passing through key stations in Odisha, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Balugaon, and Berhampur.
This decision follows Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s request for enhanced railway connectivity.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the sanction in a letter, fulfilling a long-standing demand of passengers in the state.
Additionally, two special trains have been regularised:
- Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad Special (18403/18404), connecting Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda, and Rourkela.
- Puri–Patna Special (08439/08440), running via Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, and Balasore before reaching Patna.
Chief Minister Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Vaishnaw for strengthening Odisha’s railway network, which is expected to boost passenger convenience and regional connectivity.
