Odisha Gets Full Central Funding for 92 Railway Overbridges | CM Thanks PM Modi
In a major boost to Odisha’s infrastructure, the Central Government has approved full funding for the construction of 92 railway overbridges across the state.
The Union Railway Ministry’s decision comes in response to a formal request from the Odisha government to shift the financial responsibility entirely to the Centre.
Previously, the project was structured as a 50-50 cost-sharing model between the state and the Railway Ministry.
With the new arrangement, the entire cost will now be borne by the central authorities, relieving the state of any financial burden.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, calling the move a testament to the Centre’s commitment to Odisha’s development. “From railways and roadways to ports and industrial growth, the Prime Minister has consistently prioritised Odisha,” Majhi stated.
The overbridges are expected to significantly improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance safety at railway crossings throughout the state.
This initiative marks a continued collaboration between the state and central governments to modernize Odisha’s transportation infrastructure.
