Bhubaneswar: In a landmark decision to bolster Odisha’s industrial security framework, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the creation of a second battalion for the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF). This move includes the addition of 1,040 new posts, aiming to address the growing security needs of the state’s flourishing industrial sector.
The OISF currently operates with 1,807 personnel in its sole battalion, providing dedicated security to industrial and commercial zones across Odisha. The new battalion will increase the workforce to a total of 2,847 personnel, reinforcing the state’s capability to safeguard critical infrastructure and support its position as a hub for industrial development.
Odisha has emerged as a prominent destination for investments in sectors such as steel, mining, and manufacturing. The creation of new OISF posts not only ensures a safer business environment but also generates employment opportunities for the state’s youth in various roles ranging from security personnel to administrative staff.
“This expansion is a step forward in ensuring that Odisha remains a secure and investor-friendly destination for industrial growth,” said an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office. The government plans to begin recruitment for the new posts shortly, with deployment focusing on industrial hotspots.
The initiative reflects Odisha’s vision of coupling industrial progress with robust security measures, thus paving the way for sustained economic growth and investor confidence
