Nayagarh, May 31, ( OT Webdesk): The disturbing discovery of Sishir Sahu, a forester from Baramasidanda, Nayagarh, has raised serious concerns as police investigate possible foul play behind his death.
His half-burnt body was found inside his residence late Saturday night, with authorities probing whether it was self-immolation or deliberate arson.
Eyewitnesses reported that a sudden fire erupted in Sahu’s bedroom while his wife and son were present in the house. His wife sustained minor burns and was hospitalised, while his son escaped unharmed.
Both have since been taken into police custody for questioning.
The incident gains intrigue as an earlier case in the same forest range—under Sahu’s jurisdiction—saw the discovery of a burnt body with a bullet wound.
Allegations suggest links between illegal settlements with hunters and forest officials, hinting at a deeper, systemic issue.
Authorities have assured that all angles will be explored in the investigation, including a potential cover-up involving senior officials.
With mounting speculation, the case has gripped Nayagarh, leaving many eager for answers.
