Odisha Firefighters Respond Swiftly to Cyclone Montha with Rescue and Relief Ops

In the aftermath of Cyclone Montha’s landfall across southern Odisha, the Odisha Fire & Emergency Services have mounted a swift and coordinated response to restore public safety and infrastructure.

From tree clearance in Gajapati and Koraput to rooftop rescues and dewatering operations in Puri and Bhubaneswar, fire personnel have been working tirelessly to mitigate cyclone-induced disruptions.

Key interventions include:

  • Mahendragada (Gajapati): Tree cutting near GP office by R. Udaygiri Fire Station.
  • Koraput: Road clearance on Rani Duduma Road and rooftop tree removal in Bhandari Sahi.
  • Berhampur & Ganjam: Fallen trees removed to restore access and prevent hazards.
  • Puri & Bhubaneswar: Dewatering operations at Jagannath Balhaba and eight strategic locations, including Bomikhal Flyover and Haridaspur.

Despite intermittent rainfall, Bhubaneswar remains flood-free, thanks to proactive pump deployment. Citizens are urged to dial 112 for emergency assistance.

The department’s motto—#WeServeToSave—continues to resonate as teams brave adverse conditions to protect lives and infrastructure.
