Bhubaneswar, (Orissa today) Jan 30: The Odisha government has once again extended the deadline for updating e-KYC for ration card beneficiaries, pushing it to February 15, 2024. The decision aims to ensure that all eligible individuals under the Public Distribution System (PDS) can complete the mandatory process and continue receiving their benefits.
Announcing the extension on Thursday, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra revealed that around 39 lakh beneficiaries in Odisha have yet to update their e-KYC. So far, 2.95 crore residents within the state have successfully completed the process, along with 1.32 lakh Odias living outside Odisha. Previously, the deadline was January 31, and the government had warned that ration cards of those failing to comply would be cancelled.
Beneficiaries have been urged to complete their e-KYC at local Electronic Public Service (EPS) outlets or designated ration distribution centres. The government has also instructed officials to provide assistance to residents in Odisha as well as Odias living in other states. Additionally, new ration cards will be issued once the e-KYC process is completed for all eligible beneficiaries.
