Odisha diarrhoea prevention campaign

Odisha Extends Diarrhoea Drive Till July 31 to Safeguard Public Health

(OT Webdesk)In a proactive move to curb the spread of waterborne diseases, the Odisha government has launched an intensified state-wide diarrhoea prevention campaign, extending the initiative until July 31.

The health drive, led by Dr. Sanjukta Sahoo, Director of Family Welfare, aims to ensure timely access to treatment across vulnerable communities.

As part of the campaign, health authorities have dispatched ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) and zinc supplements to government health centres, preparing facilities to respond swiftly to patient needs.

The intervention comes in the wake of an alarming development in Jajpur district, where a cholera case caused by the virulent Vibrio cholerae strain was recently confirmed.

In response, the government has implemented containment protocols and heightened surveillance, particularly in outbreak-prone areas.

Citizens are being urged to maintain strict hygiene, consume safe drinking water, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms arise.

This effort highlights Odisha’s broader strategy to mitigate seasonal disease outbreaks, bolster healthcare readiness, and protect public well-being.
