Odisha Expands Naxal Surrender Package to Other States

The Odisha government has revised its Naxal surrender and rehabilitation policy, extending benefits to cadres operating in other states. The move aims to accelerate reintegration and reduce violence across regions.

Under the new framework, surrendered cadres will receive rehabilitation support within 60 days.

Financial incentives vary by rank, with Politburo and central committee members eligible for up to Rs 1.10 crore, state committee members Rs 55 lakh, and regional committee members Rs 33 lakh.

Additionally, Naxals carrying bounties above Rs5 lakh will receive an extra Rs 10 lakh fixed deposit. Weapon surrender also carries rewards: Rs 4.95 lakh for a Light Machine Gun, Rs 3.30 lakh for an AK Rs 47, and Rs 1.65 lakh for an INSAS or SLR rifle.

Even grenades and bullets fetch smaller payouts, while those surrendering without weapons receive a Rs 25,000 bonus.

The initiative reflects Odisha’s vision of achieving a Naxal‑free India by March 2026, positioning the state’s model as a template for others.

By combining financial support with reintegration measures, the government hopes to encourage more cadres to abandon violence and return to mainstream society.
