Odisha Doctor missing after Kerala landslide; wife found in critical condition

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), July 30: In a tragic development, an Odisha doctor and his wife have been reported missing, according to Tuesday’s updates. The doctor, identified as Krushnaprasad Chinnara from Cuttack, and his wife Priyadarshini had traveled to Kerala for a vacation.

While Priyadarshini has been located and is in critical condition at the EMS Hospital in Kerala, Krushnaprasad remains unaccounted for. The couple was in Kerala to celebrate Krushnaprasad’s birthday on July 27 when they went missing due to a landslide.

The landslide has had devastating effects, with at least 45 reported dead and hundreds feared trapped in Wayanad district. The Prime Minister’s Office has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has mobilized Fireforce and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams to the area, with additional teams en route to assist in the rescue operations. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has confirmed that all government agencies are engaged in the search and rescue efforts following the severe landslides near Meppadi.
