
Odisha disposes of 8,832 cases in 90-day mediation drive
Bhubaneswar, Oct 6 (UNI) Odisha successfully disposed of 8,832 cases out of 13,527 referred by taluka courts, district courts, and the High Court during a 90-day mediation drive.
A release from the Orissa High Court stated that of the 8,832 cases disposed of, 890 were successfully settled. The drive aimed to reduce pending cases across all taluka courts, district courts, and the High Court of Odisha.
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in association with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India, launched the special campaign titled ‘Mediation for the Nation’ from July 1 to September 30.
During this campaign, 15 categories of cases were identified for mediation, including matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence, cheque bounce, commercial disputes, service matters, criminal compoundable cases, consumer disputes, debt recovery, partition, eviction, land acquisition, arbitration, labour cases, and other civil cases.
These were referred to all 30 district court mediation centres and the High Court Mediation Centre in the state.
