Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida Congratulates Sudarsan Pattnaik on Census 2027 Ambassador Role

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has extended heartfelt congratulations to internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on his appointment as the Brand Ambassador for Census 2027 by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Pattnaik, a Padma Shri awardee known for his powerful sand art messages, will play a pivotal role in raising awareness about the upcoming census through creative campaigns.

His appointment has been widely welcomed, with citizens and leaders alike praising the move as a unique blend of art and governance.

The Census 2027 will mark India’s 16th national census and the 8th since independence.

In Odisha, operations are scheduled to begin in April 2026. The last census was conducted in 2011, while the 2021 exercise was postponed due to the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Parida emphasised that Pattnaik’s involvement will help connect people emotionally with the importance of census participation, ensuring wider public engagement.
