Odisha Deploys 20 Magistrates to Guard Puri’s New Year Festivities
Puri, Odisha – In a proactive move to ensure smooth celebrations and public safety, the Government of Odisha has appointed 20 Executive Magistrates to oversee law and order during the upcoming New Year festivities in Puri.
The appointments, made under Section 14 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, will remain in force from December 31, 2025, to January 2, 2026.
Officers drawn from Khordha, Ganjam, Kalahandi, and Dhenkanal districts—including Tahasildars, Deputy Collectors, Land Officers, and Zone Officers—have been directed to report to the Collector of Puri before December 30.
Puri, a major pilgrimage and tourist destination, witnesses massive gatherings during the New Year celebrations.
The deployment of Executive Magistrates is aimed at ensuring effective crowd management, maintaining peace, and safeguarding visitors.
Officials emphasised that the measure reflects the state’s commitment to public safety and orderly conduct of festivities, reinforcing Puri’s reputation as a secure and welcoming destination for pilgrims and tourists alike.
