Odisha Declares Bolangir & Bargarh Naxal-Free | Historic Police Achievement
Bhubaneswar, March 1: In a landmark achievement, the Odisha Police has officially declared Bolangir and Bargarh districts free from Naxal activities.
Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania announced the milestone, crediting years of sustained joint operations, precise intelligence, and strong cooperation between Central and State forces.
The declaration coincided with the surrender of 15 Maoists in the Mahasamund district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh, who were active in the Bargarh–Bolangir–Mahasamund (BBM) division.
Their reintegration into mainstream society marks a significant step toward lasting peace in the region.
DGP Khurania praised the courage and restraint of the police force, congratulated officers involved, and expressed gratitude to local residents for their trust and support.
He emphasised that intensified operations will continue in other affected areas to ensure the complete eradication of Naxal influence across Odisha.
