Bhubaneswar, May 16 (UNI) Approximately 1.7 lakh WhatsApp groups have been created under the “Odisha Summer Learning Programme” to support students studying at home during the summer vacation.
According to official sources, over 11 lakh parents have joined these WhatsApp groups, which were established under the supervision of teachers.
The programme is being implemented statewide by the Department of School and Mass Education with the aim of keeping students from Classes 1 to 8 in government schools engaged with their studies during the holidays.
Students are learning through creative educational materials involving numbers, letters, and various hands-on tools.
The teachers are regularly sending videos and learning resources to the respective class groups. Parents then use these materials to teach their children at home.
The programme covers all government schools in the state, targeting students from Classes 1 to 8. Educational content is sent twice a week for students in Classes 1 to 3, and three times a week for those in Classes 5 to 8.
For Classes 1 to 3, videos on Odia, Mathematics, and Environmental Science are shared, while for Classes 4 and 5, lessons in Odia, Mathematics, Environmental Science, and English are provided.
For classes 6 to 8, videos covering Environmental Science, Social Science, and English are provided.
Parents play an active role by guiding their children through the video lessons and activities.
They also take photos of their children’s completed work and share them in the groups, allowing teachers to monitor progress and provide feedback.
