Odisha Concludes State-Level Training for Special Intensive Revision of Voter Lists 2026

Bhubaneswar, March 13: The four-day state-level training program for election officials in Odisha concluded at the Revenue Officers Training Institute (ROTI), Gothapatna, equipping officers with the skills required for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls beginning April 1, 2026.

Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan underscored the importance of transparency, inclusivity, and ensuring that no eligible voter is excluded from the rolls.

Officials from seven districts—Khordha, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri—participated in the training, which included Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Additional EROs, and Deputy Collectors.

The sessions covered procedures for revising voter lists using the 2002 roll as baseline, digitisation and verification methods, appointment and training of Booth Level Agents (BLAs), identification of 20 key persons per polling booth, and the establishment of IT cells and help desks at DEO/AERO offices.

Officers were also instructed to organise hearing camps for claims and objections and to conduct field visits to notify voters about camp schedules.

The training marks a crucial step in strengthening electoral preparedness across Odisha, ensuring accuracy and inclusivity in the voter list revision process ahead of future elections.
