Odisha Cold Wave 2026: G. Udayagiri Coldest at 5.2°C, Angul Shivers
Odisha is reeling under a severe cold wave as temperatures dipped further across the state in the past 24 hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, 11 locations recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C, intensifying the chill in both plains and hilly regions.
Rourkela emerged as the coldest in the plains with a minimum of 6.6°C, while G. Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recorded the lowest temperature overall at 5.2°C. Bhawanipatna witnessed shallow fog, reducing visibility to 500–1000 meters, adding to the discomfort of residents.
In the twin cities, Bhubaneswar registered a maximum of 28.9°C and a minimum of 11.8°C, while Cuttack recorded 26.4°C and 10.4°C, respectively.
Paralakhemundi reported the highest maximum temperature at 30.4°C.
Dry weather prevailed across all districts, but the below‑normal temperatures have worsened the chill.
Authorities have advised residents to wear warm clothing and take necessary precautions against the biting cold.
