
Odisha CM thanks PM, Nadda for approving MBBS admissions in two medical colleges
Bhubaneswar, Sept 3 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda for approving admission of 100 MBBS seats each in two medical colleges of the state.
Majhi said it is a matter of great joy for Odisha that the admission process for 100 MBBS seats each has been allowed at Pabitra Mohan Pradhan Medical College, Talcher and Phulbani Government Medical College, Kandhamal, starting from the academic year 2025–26.
The Chief Minister described the decision as a historic step that will not only expand opportunities in medical education but also strengthen healthcare services across Odisha, particularly in Talcher and Kandhamal.
He added that the move will ensure affordable and quality healthcare for the people of the state.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also extended thanks to Prime Minister Modi and Union Health Minister Nadda, along with Chief Minister Majhi and Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, for their efforts towards advancing healthcare and medical education in the state.
Pradhan emphasised that the government’s top priority is to provide quality healthcare to citizens under the Prime Minister’s “Purvodaya Mission.”
He noted that the new facilities will especially benefit tribal-dominated regions like Kandhamal and the Angul district.
Highlighting the support of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Pradhan informed that the PSU has invested more than Rs. 1,600 crore for Pabitra Mohan Pradhan Medical College.
He said the people of Talcher, Angul, and nearby districts will benefit immensely from the hospital’s services.
Pradhan further remarked that this facility will transform the healthcare sector in the region and stands as a shining example of the commitment of the “double-engine government” to the welfare of the people.
