Odisha CM Seeks NITI Aayog Support for BCPPER, Bhubaneswar as Benchmark City
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a high‑level meeting with NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery and Member Dr Arvind Virmani to discuss strategies for accelerating the state’s growth.
The discussions centred on infrastructure development, MSME promotion, manufacturing clusters, and skill‑based employment opportunities.
A key highlight was the proposed Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER), which the Chief Minister described as a transformative growth engine.
He sought NITI Aayog’s support and funding for nearly 90 priority projects under this initiative.
Bery emphasised positioning Bhubaneswar as a benchmark city, citing global best practices in sewage management, cleanliness, green spaces, and sustainable urban planning.
He referenced the “Texas model” as an example of integrated development.
NITI Aayog praised Odisha’s fiscal health, investment‑friendly environment, and reforms in industrialisation, renewable energy, tribal empowerment, and technological innovation.
The CM reaffirmed his government’s commitment to inclusive development and improving citizens’ quality of life.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Finance Principal Secretary Sanjib Mishra, Principal Secretary to CM Saswata Mishra, and Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, attended the meeting.
