Odisha CM Reviews Rs 316 Crore Maa Samaleswari Temple Redevelopment Project

SAMBALPUR: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan today to assess the progress of the Maa Samaleswari Temple redevelopment project.

Spanning 82 acres and backed by a Rs 316 crore investment, the initiative aims to elevate the revered Shakti Peeth into a world-class spiritual and tourism destination.

Phase 1 of the project includes the construction of a temple corridor, enhancement of Gopaljiu Math, a new lamp house, riverfront beautification, and improved parking facilities.

These upgrades are designed to enhance accessibility and enrich the spiritual experience for devotees and tourists.

Phase 2 will introduce a multi-storied Bhakta Niwas to accommodate pilgrims, alongside a scenic lake zone, food park, shop complexes, and expanded entry pathways.

The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of global standards and humane development, particularly ensuring proper rehabilitation for displaced residents.

The review was attended by Works and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, and senior engineers from the Works Department.

The project aligns with Odisha’s broader vision of preserving cultural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism.
