Odisha CM Reviews Ratna Bhandar SOP, Inventory Set to Begin
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi chaired a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to review the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Ratna Bhandar of the Sri Jagannath Temple. The SOP outlines the process for counting, verifying, and valuing the ornaments stored in the temple treasury.
Senior officials including the State Law Minister, Chief Secretary, and SJTA Chief Administrator were present during the review. The government is expected to formally approve the SOP soon, paving the way for the long-awaited inventory (Ganati-Manati) of the Ratna Bhandar.
The move comes in compliance with Orissa High Court directives, which had asked the state to complete the inventory within a set timeframe and address the issue of missing keys in the Assembly. Emphasis was placed on transparency, security arrangements, and proper documentation to safeguard the centuries-old ornaments of Lord Jagannath and his sibling deities.
The inventory date is likely to be announced once administrative formalities are completed, marking a significant step in heritage conservation and temple management.
